Welcome to our newest Leader
Welcome to our new Spokesperson, Angela Byrd Wilson.
The Southeastern Institute on Chemical Dependency is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Byrd Wilson as Spokesperson, effective immediately. Angela is a Certified Addiction Counselor who comes to the Institute from Martin Street Church of God where she has an active leadership role in The Right Step Recovery through Christ Ministry.
Angela’s first introduction to the Southeastern Institute was while attending the 2011 Summer Institute on Addiction during July 9-16, where she discovered that the Institute’s mission seemed to coincide with her desire to help “dispel the ignorance about the disease of addiction” among members of clergy and the church community. It was during this same event that Angela’s knowledge of the disease of addiction, her excellent communication skills, expression of her love for the Lord, and her energetic presence came to the attention of members of the Institute’s leaders.
Angela graciously accepted the offer to take on the responsibilities as the Institute’s Spokesperson, an unpaid position since this nonprofit organization has no paid staff. Angela stated she is inspired by the Senior Pastor and first lady, Arthur and Grace Grier of Martin Street Church of God when they often quote, “The greatest room there is in this world….is the room for improvement”. That means everyone remains a student of life.
